Bernalillo had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Valley on Tuesday. The Spartans put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp  14-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won seven games by nine  runs or more  so far this season.
 Calandria Montoya made a big impact no matter where she played. She  struck out seven batters over  seven innings while giving up  five earned runs off   nine  hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 4-for-5 with two  runs, two  doubles,  and one  RBI. That's the most  doubles  she has posted since back in April of 2024.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Kylee Herrera, who  went 4-for-5 with six  RBI, three  doubles,  and two  runs. That's the most  RBI  she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was  Ashlyn Chavez, who  went a perfect 4-for-4 with two  runs, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 Bernalillo  always had someone on base and  finished the game having  posted an OBP of .612. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley only posted  an  OBP of  .400.
The  victory  got Bernalillo back to even at 10-10. As for Valley, they now  have a losing record of 9-10.
 Bernalillo didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  contest,  a  21-3  win against Hope Christian on the 18th. As for Valley, they have also already played their next matchup,  a  27-11  defeat against Albuquerque Academy on the 18th.
