Softball Recap: Campbell County Takes Down Ranked Worland

Campbell County faced Worland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Camels put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 22-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Camels, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Maddie Fisher was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Fisher was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Zoey Hutton was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Patience Smith was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Campbell County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .652. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .317 or higher in 15 consecutive games.

Campbell County's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.4 runs over those games. As for Worland, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Looking ahead, Campbell County will host Sheridan at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Worland, they will head out on the road to face off against Thunder Basin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
