Basketball Recap: Brea Olinda Comes Up Short

If Brea Olinda was feeling good fresh off their 70-23 takedown of La Puente on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats were beaten by the Bishop Amat Lancers 87-47 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 405th, while the Lancers are ranked 30th).

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Seth Vivek, who posted seven points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Vivek has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Severson, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 10 points.

Brea Olinda's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Bishop Amat, their victory bumped their record up to 12-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Brea Olinda will take on Villa Park in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will be up against the Spartans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.21 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Bishop Amat, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Great Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
