Basketball Recap: Holly Hirsch's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Glens Falls over Amsterdam

If Glens Falls was feeling good fresh off their 59-19 takedown of Gloversville last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Glens Falls Black Bears fell to the Amsterdam Rams 67-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (59), the Black Bears still had to take the loss.

Glens Falls' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Holly Hirsch, who posted 16 points. The dominant performance gave Hirsch a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Sarah Wolfstich, who scored 15 points.

Glens Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Amsterdam, they pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glens Falls will take on Scotia-Glenville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Amsterdam, they will challenge South Glens Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
