Matt Sheldon posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Thursday. As a matter of fact, he produced his best game of the campaign: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Avon is 3-1 when Sheldon allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-7 otherwise.

Looking ahead, Sheldon and Avon will challenge Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be headed into this one with a sizable disadvantage in the rankings (they're ranked 259 places lower in Ohio), but they're not letting that get them down.
