Baseball Recap: East Iberville Victorious

East Iberville won the last time they faced White Castle and things went their way on Tuesday too. East Iberville came out on top against White Castle by a score of 8-4.

Chene Thompson and Colton Melancon made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Thompson struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Melancon struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. At bat, Thompson scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Melancon scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Thompson has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last ten times he's played.

In other batting news, Kade Cantrelle was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cort Willis, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

East Iberville's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for White Castle, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

East Iberville and White Castle could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings. East Iberville will square off against Ascension Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Friday down 191 places (237 vs. 46). Meanwhile, White Castle (ranked 324th) will meet St. John (ranked 108th) at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
