Volleyball Game Preview: Big Walnut Golden Eagles vs. Westerville North Warriors

The Big Walnut Golden Eagles will take on the Westerville North Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Big Walnut barely beat Dublin Scioto the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Irish on Tuesday.

While Big Walnut won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-18, 28-26.

Meanwhile, Westerville North hadn't done well against Worthington Kilbourne recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Warriors blew past the Wolves 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Westerville North was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-15, 25-22.

Big Walnut's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Westerville North, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's game: Big Walnut has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Westerville North struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.9 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
