Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Genesee's Winning Streak

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wolves on Wednesday. Genesee lost to Sandusky on the road by a 70-52 margin. While losing is never fun, Genesee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 402nd, while Sandusky is ranked 116th).

When it comes to explaining why Genesee lost, don't look at Averie Zinn. Despite the final result, she went 16-for-27 on her way to 38 points along with seven steals and five assists. The matchup was Zinn's 42nd in a row with at least 15 points.

With the defeat, Genesee broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points over those games. As for Sandusky, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 24-2.

Genesee does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sandusky, they will be taking part in a tournament against Lutheran Northwest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sandusky's defense has only allowed 25 points per game this season, so Lutheran Northwest's offense will have their work cut out for them.
