Basketball Recap: Marksville Find Success

Marksville lost to Natchitoches Central back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Marksville Tigers slipped by the Natchitoches Central Chiefs 59-58. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Chiefs are ranked 108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jaden Price was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Braylen Bazile was another key player, putting up 13 points.

The win made it two in a row for Marksville and bumps their season record up to 10-1. As for Natchitoches Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Marksville Tigers challenge the Madison Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Natchitoches Central will take on Rapides in a holiday battle at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at. Natchitoches Central is facing Rapides at the right time seeing as Rapides is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
