Baseball Recap: Williamsburg Comes Up Short

Williamsburg extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 6-12. They came up short against the Juniata Valley Hornets, falling 19-7. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 9, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Anthony Neri made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of William Lower, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

As for Juniata Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-4. Considering they have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Juniata Valley's side, they got a massive performance out of Robert Hess, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-5. Those two home runs gave Hess a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyler Spurlin, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Williamsburg will challenge Glendale at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Juniata Valley, they will face off against Mount Union at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
