Jonas Guichet and Andrew Jarreau provided fans with a highlight when they connected against St. Edmund. The connection went for 72 yards, the longest such play in 1A District 6 this season.
Sacred Heart was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. The Trojans vanquished False River 34-13 earlier in the week.
Catholic of Pointe Coupee's dynamic duo of Guichet and Jarreau proved tough for the Fighting Blue Jays to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Guichet threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns and Jarreau had 96 yards receiving. Cole Frey helped Catholic of Pointe Coupee's passing attack out by catching one ball for 13 yards.
Luke Judice was the most productive running back in the league this week. In nine carries, he ran for 66 yards as Westminster Academy defeated St. Edmund. Wesley Bellard also contributed to the rushing game with 49 yards on the ground.
Darius Munson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Catholic of Pointe Coupee bested Tom Andrus' team. The junior recorded one fumble and grabbed 2.0 sacks.
Westminster Academy's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Crusaders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Judice has thrown for 879 yards and 36 touchdowns this season, while Jalen Williams has 31 catches for 486 yards. Judice also leads the league in rushing with 463 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Sacred Heart takes on Opelousas Catholic. Dutton Wall's team is currently in second, while the Vikings are in third.
The Crusaders took down North Central 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Judice threw for 90 yards and one touchdown in the win.
