Softball Game Preview: Davidson Warriors vs. UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs

Davidson hasn't had much luck against UMS-Wright Prep recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Davidson will take on UMS-Wright Prep at 4:30 p.m. Davidson is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Davidson took a 15-run loss the last time they faced off against McGill-Toolen, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Davidson had just enough and edged out McGill-Toolen 7-6. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The team relied heavily on Ca'Leah Perryman, who scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Oashia Scurlock, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Davidson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .389 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, UMS-Wright Prep had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Cardinals as they made off with a 20-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven games by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Davidson's record is now 6-0. As for UMS-Wright Prep, their record now sits at 7-3.

Davidson suffered a grim 20-5 defeat to UMS-Wright Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Davidson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
