Chazy hasn't had much luck against Crown Point recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will square off against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Chazy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Wednesday. Chazy walked away with a 6-2 win over Bolton Central.
Kennedy Columbus spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Emma Howell was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Carly Lapierre, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Crown Point put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Boquet Valley as they made off with an 18-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won three matchups by 15 runs or more so far this season.
Kaitlin Ross was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Ross was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
In other batting news, Crown Point got a massive performance out of Makenna Munson, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Munson has hit this season. Addison Hurlburt was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Crown Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Crown Point's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.3 runs over those games. As for Chazy, their record is now 7-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Chazy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Crown Point struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Chazy might still be hurting after the 19-0 defeat they got from Crown Point in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
