Softball Game Preview: Creekview Mustangs vs. Cleburne Yellowjackets

The Creekview Mustangs will head out to square off against the Cleburne Yellowjackets at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday. Creekview is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Grand Prairie hit Creekview with a five-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs fell just short of the Gophers by a score of 8-7. On the bright side, the seven- run performance marked the Mustangs' highest-scoring contest to date.

Kelis Lee was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Allison Sanchez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Cleburne's offense. They came up short against Centennial on Tuesday, falling 13-0.

Creekview's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Cleburne, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Everything went Creekview's way against Cleburne in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Creekview made off with a 21-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
