Baseball Recap: Cape Henlopen Picks Up Eighth Straight Win on the Road

Cape Henlopen had won eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 10-0 to make it nine. Everything went their way against the Laurel Bulldogs as they made off with a 17-8 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

As for Laurel, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-5 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since May 8, 2024.

For Laurel's part, Koby Shockley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Caleb Boyce, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cape Henlopen will welcome Salesianum at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Laurel, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodbridge at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
