Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Elsinore

Elsinore had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Sutter Huskies. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly four runs.

Jacob Farias made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Farias was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Farias wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Robert Gates, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Elsinore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sutter only posted a batting average of .130.

Elsinore's record is now 10-6. As for Sutter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-3.

Elsinore and Sutter should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Tigers (ranked 259th) will meet West Valley (ranked 558th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Sutter will square off against Rio Linda at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (181 vs. 517). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 3.3, the Knights 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
