Football Game Preview: American Fork Cavemen vs. Lehi Pioneers

Two dominant backs in Prince Afu and Devaughn Eka are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After each having a week off, the American Fork Cavemen and the Lehi Pioneers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. on the 31st. American Fork is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

American Fork is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Skyridge, who was ranked second at the time (American Fork was ranked ninth). The Cavemen fell 26-14 to the Falcons on Wednesday.

Despite the loss, American Fork had strong showings from Nate Childs, who threw for 356 yards and a pair of TDs, and Ty Holmstead, who picked up 136 receiving yards and two scores.

American Fork didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Samson Thompson, Jackson Theobald, and Gunner Michaelis, who each picked up one interception apiece.

Meanwhile, Lehi played a tough matchup on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Corner Canyon 56-3. The contest marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

American Fork's record is now 6-4. As for Lehi, their record now sits at an identical 6-4.

American Fork might still be hurting after the 26-3 defeat they got from Lehi when the teams last played on October 3rd. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Eka, who rushed for 143 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards and one score.
