Baseball Game Preview: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Simi Valley Pioneers

The Cleveland Cavaliers will head out to take on the Simi Valley Pioneers at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cleveland will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Cleveland turned things around against North Hollywood on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Huskies.

Meanwhile, Simi Valley came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. That's two games straight that the Pioneers have won by exactly nine runs.

Oak Park's batters probably weren't too happy with Jackson Goshorn, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (he gave up zero walks). Goshorn has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Evan Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Rowan Schmidt was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Simi Valley's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cleveland, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

Cleveland took their win against Simi Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2020 by a conclusive 9-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
