Eau Gallie had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers 2-0. For the Commodores, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 victory the Hustlers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Not much got past Carson Lietz, who gave up just five hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Melbourne Central Catholic off the board. Lietz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Eau Gallie saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Jacobs, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Brock Lustic, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Eau Gallie pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Looking ahead, Eau Gallie will take on Rockledge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, they will challenge Scott County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hustlers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
