Basketball Recap: Northeast Comes Up Short

If Northeast was feeling good fresh off their 75-47 takedown of Seffner Christian last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Northeast Vikings were beaten by the Calvary Christian Warriors 68-37 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while the Warriors are ranked 34th).

Northeast's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Brown, who posted two points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Brown has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Walter Brown, who had seven points.

Northeast has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Calvary Christian, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2.

Northeast wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 65-57 loss against St. Petersburg on the 22nd. As for Calvary Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-45 win against Winthrop College Prep Academy on the 24th.
