Volleyball Recap: St. Mary's Comes Up Short

St. Mary was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Duchesne Pioneers. If the Dragons were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Pioneers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

St. Mary's took Duchesne into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-13, 22-25, 21-25, 15-12.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Duchesne, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-5 record.

St. Mary's will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bayless at 5:15 p.m. on the 21st. As for Duchesne, they will take on Clayton at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
