Soccer Game Preview: Upper Sandusky vs. Van Buren

Upper Sandusky hasn't had much luck against Van Buren recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Rams will take on the Black Knights at 7:00 p.m. Upper Sandusky has given up an average of 2.9 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Upper Sandusky came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 9-1 to Columbus Grove. While losing is never fun, Upper Sandusky can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Columbus Grove are ranked 113th).

Upper Sandusky's goal came courtesy of Erica Ruhlen, who's now up to seven this season.

Meanwhile, Van Buren kept a clean sheet against Shawnee on Monday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Indians. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Van Buren were the better team in the second half.

Van Buren now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Upper Sandusky, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7-1.

Upper Sandusky was able to grind out a solid victory over Van Buren in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
