Recap: Rocky Mount Gryphons vs. Cleveland Rams
The Rocky Mount Gryphons were the 69-42 winner over the Cleveland Rams when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Rocky Mount took a 77-61 bruising from Cleveland on Friday. Rocky Mount has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Rocky Mount had strong showings from Emanauel Battle, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds, and Anthony Jones, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Zyquae Pittman, who scored 12 points.
Cleveland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Talan Brown led the charge by scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Brown pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jabari Green, who scored 14 points.
Rocky Mount's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7. As for Cleveland, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
