Volleyball Game Preview: Turpin Spartans vs. Bellefontaine Chieftains

The Turpin Spartans will head out to square off against the Bellefontaine Chieftains at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Turpin saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Western Brown. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Turpin not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Western Brown between 13 and 16 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-15.

Among those leading the charge was Mallory Thorn, who had nine digs and three aces. Taylor Duermit also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Turpin was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. They are a perfect 14-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

Butler typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Bellefontaine proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Aviators with a sharp 3-0 victory.

While Bellefontaine won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-23, 25-16.

Turpin's record is now 16-8. As for Bellefontaine, their record now sits at 16-6.
