Football Recap: Wake Christian Academy Comes Up Short at Home Against John Paul II Catholic

Wake Christian Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against the John Paul II Catholic Saints on Friday, falling 41-8. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-0.

Despite the loss, Wake Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Trace Turner, who rushed for 94 yards and one TD on only ten carries.

John Paul II Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gentry McMinn, who rushed for 101 yards and three scores. McMinn showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 50 yards. Crisean Williams also helped out as he racked up 139 rushing yards.

Looking ahead, Wake Christian Academy will challenge Halifax Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for John Paul II Catholic, they will take on Washington County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
