Baseball Game Preview: Decatur Eagles vs. Springtown Porcupines

Decatur hasn't had much luck against Springtown recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will challenge the Porcupines at 6:30 p.m. Decatur's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Springtown's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Decatur fell victim to Eagle Mountain and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 6-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since February 28th.

Blaze Grider was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Springtown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Castleberry 3-2. The Porcupines haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Decatur's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 15-14-1. As for Springtown, their win bumped their record up to 15-8-1.
