Baseball Recap: High Tech NC Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, High Tech NC couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 12-4 to the Borrego Springs Rams on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Raptor have suffered since March 21, 2024.

Desmond McDonald put in work no matter where he played. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Cole Sakowski was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Dylan Shelton, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for High Tech NC and nudges their season record down to 13-5. As for Borrego Springs, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-2.

High Tech NC does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Borrego Springs, they will challenge Ocean View Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
