Basketball Recap: Tayvon Evans Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pueblo County

Pueblo Central won the last time they faced Pueblo County and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Pueblo Central Wildcats strolled past the Pueblo County Hornets with points to spare, taking the game 69-50. The Wildcats pushed the score to 52-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hornets cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pueblo Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tayvon Evans, who posted 12 points along with eight boards and four steals. Darrin Hemphill was another key player, putting up 15 points.

When it comes to explaining why Pueblo County lost, don't look at Lowry Kirkland. Despite the final result, he put up 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Harley Harding, who earned eight points.

Pueblo Central's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-7. As for Pueblo County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Pueblo Central has already played their next game, a 60-56 victory against Pueblo East on the 31st. As for Pueblo County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-45 loss against Pueblo South on the 31st.
