Softball Game Preview: Kendrick Tigers vs. Genesee Bulldogs

The Kendrick Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Genesee Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Kendrick will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Kendrick is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 32-5 margin over Lapwai on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, Genesee got themselves on the board against Prairie on Friday, but Prairie never followed suit. They blew past the Pirates 13-0. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Kendra Meyer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Rylie Baysinger was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Makayla Herman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

Genesee pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Kendrick, their record is now 4-2.

Kendrick couldn't quite get it done against Genesee in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 12-7. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
