Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Canyon Lake

While Canyon Lake's victory against Fredericksburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Canyon Lake won by a run and slipped past Fredericksburg 3-2. That's two games straight that Canyon Lake has won by just one run.

Carter Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hayes Holladay, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Gram Simpson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

The win was the fourth in a row for Canyon Lake, bringing their record up to 22-11-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Fredericksburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-12 record this season.

Canyon Lake will venture away from home to square off against Travis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fredericksburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
