Basketball Recap: Aubrey Mccormick's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Community School of Davidson over Christ the King

Community School of Davidson was the 65-58 winner over Christ the King when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Community School of Davidson Spartans fell just short of the Christ the King Crusaders by a score of 54-52 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Spartans have suffered against the Crusaders since January 8, 2020.

Community School of Davidson's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubrey Mccormick, who posted 11 points and four steals. Olivia Stewart was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Christ the King's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Audrey Gorman, who scored 16 points and six boards. That's the most points Gorman has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lucy Gorman, who had 11 points along with five assists and four steals.

Community School of Davidson's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Christ the King, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-4.

Coming up, Community School of Davidson is taking a road trip to take on Pine Lake Prep at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th. As for Christ the King, they will square off against Lincoln Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Christ the King is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Lincoln Charter a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
