Soccer Game Preview: Burlingame vs. South San Francisco

The Burlingame Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the South San Francisco Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Burlingame's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

On Wednesday, Burlingame didn't have quite enough to beat Menlo-Atherton and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 809th, while the Bears are ranked 87th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South San Francisco). Everything went their way against Sequoia on Wednesday as South San Francisco made off with a 4-0 victory. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

South San Francisco hit Sequoia with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Alexis Jimenez (2), Delfino Martinez, and Adrian Yanez.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-8-3. As for Burlingame, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10-2.
