Baseball Recap: Platt RVT Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grasso Tech, Platt RVT was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Bullard-Havens Tigers by a score of 13-9. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Platt RVT got a great performance from Matt Karaffa as he struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Jordan Jones was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of David Christensen, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and three RBI.

Platt RVT always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Platt RVT's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-5. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Bullard-Havens, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Platt RVT wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 13-9 loss against O'Brien RVT on the 23rd. As for Bullard-Havens, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-4 defeat against Abbott RVT on the 23rd.
