Softball Recap: Pajaro Valley Grizzlies vs. Gonzales Spartans
After flying high against Anzar last Monday, Pajaro Valley came back down to earth. The Grizzlies came up short against the Gonzales Spartans on Wednesday, falling 14-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Grizzlies of the 18-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2019.
Gloria Morales made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Virginia Escobar, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Pajaro Valley dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Gonzales, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pajaro Valley will face off against St. Francis at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gonzales, they will square off against Marina at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
