Basketball Game Preview: Oxford Prep Griffins vs. Vance Charter Knights

Oxford Prep hasn't had much luck against Vance Charter recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Oxford Prep Griffins will take on the Vance Charter Knights at 6:00 p.m.

Oxford Prep is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Roxboro Community on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Oxford Prep took a blow against Roxboro Community, falling 60-18. The matchup marked the Griffins' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vance Charter). They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Henderson Collegiate 55-16. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Knights with their most commanding win of the season.

Vance Charter has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.8 points per game. As for Oxford Prep, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-8.

Oxford Prep ended up a good deal behind Vance Charter in their previous matchup on January 8th, losing 39-25. Can Oxford Prep avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
