Basketball Recap: Ashton Walker Key Part of a Team Effort in Crusaders Win

Catholic won the last time they faced Norfolk Academy and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Catholic Crusaders took down the Norfolk Academy Bulldogs 59-40. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Catholic's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton Walker, who went 9 for 16 en route to 18 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelvin Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Catholic moved to 10-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Norfolk Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Catholic has already played their next matchup, a 68-65 win against St. Michael the Archangel on the 25th. As for Norfolk Academy, they will square off against Hampton Roads Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th.
