Volleyball Recap: Somerset Academy Takes Down Mcarthur in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Somerset Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the McArthur Mustangs on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 two weeks ago.

Somerset Academy was led to victory by Daniel Bayona and Tyler Cabrera. Bayona had 15 digs, while Cabrera had six kills, three aces, and two blocks. Those 15 digs gave Bayona a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Somerset Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in five consecutive matches.

Somerset Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. As for McArthur, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Somerset Academy will take on Pembroke Pines Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Jaguars will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. McArthur does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
