Basketball Preview: Hatch Valley Bears vs. Socorro Warriors
Hatch Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Socorro Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hatch Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Hatch Valley beat the Desert Warriors 47-43.
Hatch Valley found their leader in underclassman Caydence Roberts, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Sophia Holguin, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, after only eight points in their last game, Socorro made sure to put some points up on the board against the Bobcats on Saturday. Everything went Socorro's way against the Bobcats as the Warriors made off with a 61-39 victory.
Hatch Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-12 record this season. As for Socorro, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-15.
Hatch Valley might still be hurting after the 39-16 loss they got from the Warriors in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Hatch Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
