For the first time this season, New Braunfels Thunder will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to challenge the Valor South Austin Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Braunfels Thunder is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for New Braunfels Thunder after they put the first points on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of San Antonio Christian by a score of 6-5.
New Braunfels Thunder saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Israel Fuentes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Fuentes has posted since back in March of 2024. Paxton Lerma was another, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Valor South Austin entered their tilt with Round Rock Christian Academy on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Crusaders.
Timothy Noble made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Noble was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Beck Forrester was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Valor South Austin pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for New Braunfels Thunder, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. New Braunfels Thunder has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Valor South Austin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
