Basketball Recap: Josh Green's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Francis over Living Word Lutheran

St. Francis lost against Living Word Lutheran back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The St. Francis Mariners received a blow as they fell 70-55 to the Living Word Lutheran Timberwolves. While losing is never fun, the Mariners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 117th).

St. Francis lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Josh Green, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zamiel Cruz, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Easton Oliver continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Living Word Lutheran, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Eric Britton, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

St. Francis has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Living Word Lutheran, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

St. Francis will host Cudahy at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Living Word Lutheran, they will head out to challenge Racine Saint Catherine?s/Racine Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Racine Saint Catherine?s/Racine Lutheran will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Living Word Lutheran surely won't give up without a fight.
