Basketball Recap: Layton Christian Academy Falls Short Against Ranked AZ Compass Prep National

Layton Christian Academy is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of AZ Compass Prep National. The Layton Christian Academy Eagles fell 57-46 to the AZ Compass Prep National Dragons. The Eagles have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Layton Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Omar Mowafak, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.6% shooting accuracy. Tyrin Jones was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Layton Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10. As for AZ Compass Prep National, they pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Layton Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wasatch Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 25th. As for AZ Compass Prep National, they will welcome PHH Prep National at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
