Recap: Bonita Springs Bullsharks vs. Golden Gate Titans
The Bonita Springs Bullsharks''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 49-7 loss at the hands of Golden Gate. While losing is never fun, Bonita Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 485th, while Golden Gate is ranked 69th).
Golden Gate's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but John lee Honorat led the charge by picking up 104 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Honorat was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Powell, who threw for 166 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes.
Bonita Springs' defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. As for Golden Gate, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Bonita Springs will head out on the road to face off against Naples at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Naples will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Golden Gate, they will be playing at home against Lely at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
