Preview: University Bulldogs vs. Rifle Bears
The University Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Rifle Bears at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a seven-game winning streak alive.
With a playoff game on the line, University rose to the challenge on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 40-15 margin over Florence. University might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won five matches by 25 points or more this season.
Coel Croissant was on fire: he threw for 260 yards and five touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Will Korby did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 89 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Rifle beat Brush 21-14 on Saturday.
Logan Gross went supernova for Rifle, rushing for 180 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.6 yards per carry, and also throwing for 92 yards and a touchdown.
University's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Rifle, they have yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 9-1 record.
We should be in store for an exciting game Saturday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. University has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 390.5 total yards per game. However, it's not like Rifle struggles in that department as they've been averaging 385.5 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
