Basketball Game Preview: Liberty Bell Mountain Lions vs. Columbia Coyotes

The Liberty Bell Mountain Lions will head out to challenge the Columbia Coyotes at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Liberty Bell took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 65-52 victory over Tri-Cities Prep.

Meanwhile, Columbia came tearing into Saturday's match with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Lightning 82-56. Given the Coyotes' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Lightning are ranked 80th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Columbia's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.6 points over those games. As for Liberty Bell, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.
