Volleyball Game Preview: Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets vs. Zanesville Blue Devils

Mt. Vernon has gone a perfect 3-0 against Zanesville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will face off against the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Mt. Vernon is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Mt. Vernon came up short against Utica and fell 3-1.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 18-25, 25-11, 25-16.

Mt. Vernon's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Callie Swanson, who had 17 assists and three digs, and Addison Komitau, who had 21 assists and eight digs. Swanson is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

Meanwhile, Zanesville lost 3-0 to Northridge on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost six in a row.

Zanesville was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Northridge work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 26-4, 25-8, 25-8.

Zanesville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Mt. Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Mt. Vernon took their victory against Zanesville in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
