Basketball Recap: Yulee Takes a Loss

Yulee lost against Fletcher back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hornets took a blow against the Senators, falling 80-48. The Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-19.

Yulee lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ben Newby, who shot 42% from the field to rack up 14 points. Elijah Valdez was another key player, putting up eight points and six boards.

Kenny Matty had a dynamite game For Fletcher., going 8-for-15 en route to 23 points and seven assists. Matty is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Xavier Carmichael, who shot 86% from the field on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Yulee's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Yulee will take on Bolles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fletcher, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-35 victory against Fernandina Beach on the 19th.
