Softball Recap: Springstead Takes a Loss

After flying high against Central last Thursday, Springstead came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the Crystal River Pirates by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

ALIVIA MILLER spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Springstead saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AUDRINA SAVARESE, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. SAVARESE is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Springstead's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4. As for Crystal River, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4.

Coming up, Springstead will take on Weeki Wachee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Hornets at the right time seeing as the Hornets are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Crystal River, they have already played their next match, an 8-1 victory against Hudson on the 16th.
