Football Recap: Sparrows Point Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Sparrows Point extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-0. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured an 18-12 W against the Loch Raven Raiders. That's more bragging rights for the Pointers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mikey Maynor was his usual excellent self, rushing for 132 yards and one score on only 15 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 132 rushing yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Sparrows Point proved: they limited Loch Raven to a paltry 2.6 yards per carry. The Pointers didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.8.

As for Loch Raven, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2. Despite 144 more yards than Sparrows Point, the Raiders couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite the loss, Loch Raven still got an impressive performance from Cai Perry, who threw for 208 yards and one TD, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground.

Coming up, Sparrows Point will be playing in front of their home fans against Eastern Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Pointers 6, the Mavericks 14.8) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Loch Raven, they will venture away from home to face off against Chesapeake at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
