Basketball Recap: East Ridge Takes a Loss

East Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 72-68 heartbreaker at the hands of the George Jenkins Eagles. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (59), the Knights still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why East Ridge lost, don't look at Jordan Corman. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 19 rebounds and nine steals. That's the most steals Corman has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Isayah Smith, who posted 12 points and six steals.

Even though they lost, East Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

East Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for George Jenkins, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

East Ridge will challenge First Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully First Academy likes a good challenge. As for George Jenkins, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against McKeel Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
