Baseball Recap: Rehoboth Christian Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

There's no place like home for Rehoboth Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Gallup Bengals on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-4. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lynx also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.

Jonathan Zylstra and Trajen West made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Zylstra struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, West tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. At the plate, Zylstra went 2-for-3 with one home run and two stolen bases, while West went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Zylstra has posted since back in May of 2024.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zach VanDrunen, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Rehoboth Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Rehoboth Christian's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Gallup, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Rehoboth Christian will look to defend their home field on Friday against Miyamura at 5:00 p.m. Rehoboth Christian's pitchers better be ready for this one: Miyamura has averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season. As for Gallup, they have already played their next match, a 7-4 defeat against Zuni on the 27th.
